Why did you choose the history field?
Because I like to learn about everything, and history IS everything.
What research have you incorporated into your teaching?
Things that I uncovered about women and their contact with the courts have been implemented in both US courses, the women's course and African American course. I also wrote a chapter for a book on how history can be used to promote peace and social justice, an idea that I promote in all of my classes.
What makes Mount Union unique?
We still have a history major when so many schools are no longer offering one — Mount values historical knowledge and the way it can impact current events and future decisions. My favorite part of teaching here is seeing someone's face when they "get it."
